This extremely rare 1927 Essex Super 6 Speedabout was one of only a handfull to be imported, it was sold new in Adelaide by Motors Ltd. to Mr Guley of Exeter in 1927, he kept it for many years, this cars history is known from new. The Speedabout is very distinctive with its boattail design, it has had a ground up restoration to original specification. The Essex 6 was a medium priced car having a reputation for good quality and reliability. The Speedabouts were reportedly built as show cars by Hudson primarily to gauge interest in their production feasibility. Only a few of this model were built in 1927 and only 5 cars in 1929, the Speedabout differed from other Essex Super 6 models having a taller differential ratio and a top speed of 70mph! The Essex Super 6 has a 161ci 55hp 6 cylinder engine, 3 speed centre change gearbox and mechanical rear wheel brakes, it runs and drives beautifully.This distinctive rare car is one of only a few survivors, a great investment.
