Marlborough 8-10 Roadster 1912
$0.00
This beautiful 1912 Marlborough 8/10 Roadster has been restored to a very high standard, we believe this Marlborough to be one of only a handful of survivors and the oldest one known. Restored in the late 1950's and recently "freshened up" the Marlborough presents very well, the brushed paintwork, French leather trim, beautiful brass radiator and original electric lights are sensational, fitted with a modern electric starter for convenience. Mounted on the back is an original English picnic basket with all it's 1912 components! A substantial file containing the car's history from 1957 is included. It is believed this car may have originally belonged to Dame Nellie Melba (the first internationally known an honored Australian in the field of the arts, she was an opera singer). The Marlborough was produced from 1903-1926, around 2000 were made, the Marlborough company was owned by T. B Andre and Co, (known for manufacturing Hartford shock absorbers). The 1912 Marlborough 8/10 Roadster, has a 1100cc 4 cylinder side valve engine with Zenith Carburettor and Bosch DU4 magneto, with a separately mounted 3 speed gearbox, it is quite peppy and runs and drives well. The Marlborough is an Anglo French car made up of Malicet Blin components on order for T B Andre in England and generally sold in the UK and Colonies. The very enthusiastic last owner commissioned Bob Phillips ( a local toy car craftsman) to reproduce the Marlborough replica as a "pedal car", it is amazing! This wonderful Veteran and matching pedal car are now ready for a new custodian, a very special opportunity.
