The REO company was founded by Ransom E. Olds in 1904 following his departure from Oldsmobile. The Reo cars were built in Lansing, Michigan, this single cylinder model was built to similar specifications as the famous "Curved Dash" Oldsmobile. This wonderful 1908 REO 8hp single cylinder Roadster has been beautifully restored from a complete original car. Prior to it being imported from the USA recently it has had only 2 owners from new in over 100 years! A comprehensive history file including a letter from the first owners widow, a description and photographic record of the discovery and restoration as well as an original owners manual accompany the car. The 8 hp Reo has a single cylinder under floor water cooled engine, a 2 speed planetary transmission and chain drive, it has been discreetly fitted with an electric starter (this is easily removable if you wish, but not advisable!). The paintwork, deep buttoned leather trim, hood and brass are beautiful. The jewellery including Rushmore headlights with Sola ascetylene generator, brass side lights, multi lens tail light and brass bulb horn is excellent. Although different it is quite easy and most enjoyable to drive.Finding a beautifully restored single cylinder veteran car like this is rare, but an extremely original example with history from new is amazing! This wonderful example is eligable for all the popular 1 and 2 cylinder rallys.
