Leyland P76 V8 Sedan 1973

Leyland P76 V8 Sedan 1973

$0.00

Amazing original example, this 1973 Leyland P76 Super/Deluxe V8 auto Sedan has only 46,300 miles from new! Bought locally at the Vimy Ridge Service Station in the Adelaide Hills 19/12/1973, sold back to them years later on the owners death, and kept by the dealer until his retirement recently. Totally original and in very good order, the interior is in excellent original condition as is the engine compartment etc ,although the original paintwork is a little tired it is presentable, original books and sales brochures included, it runs and drives beautifully as it did when new. The Leyland P76 was only made in 1973/74, Wheels Australian car of the year in 1973! Body was designed by Giovanni Michelotti, the excellent 4416cc V8 engine was derived from a Buick engine, it has an aluminium cylinder block making it much lighter than the Holden/Falcon of the time, it was coupled ta Borg Warner Auto trans, rack and pinion steerring, disc front brakes, Mcpherson strut front suspension all standard equipment, the P76 handled better than the opposition and due to the lower weight performed very well, yes, you can easily fit a 44 gallon drum in the boot! Was called a “Lemon” when new due to production difficulties, now a true Australian icon!

Finding a V8 Leyland P76 with only 46,300 original miles (with books!), is rare, this is probably one of the best original examples surviving, very collectable.
