MG Y type Sedan 1949
MG Y type Sedan 1949
This charming 1949 MG YA Sedan is in good original unrestored condition, it has been in the same family from 1949-2017, the original purchase document is still with the car, sold new by Lanes Motors in Melbourne to Miss Jessie Mckinnnon 8/10/1949 for 938 Pounds 16 shillings! The 41,500 miles shown is believed genuine from new. The paintwork was redone many years ago and is tired (has been stored in a shed that was shorter than the car!), Although it is presentable as is a repaint would greatly improve it. The leather trim, carpet, hood lining, dash etc are all excellent, under the bonnet is neat and tidy but not detailed, the tyres are new, it runs and drives very well. The MG Y Type has the famous 1250cc XPAG 4 cylinder OHV engine with a delightful 4 speed centre change gearbox and independent front suspension, around 8,500 of this model were built from 1947-1953. Fitted with it’s original factory sun roof, Lucas “Prince of Darkness” headlights and spot lamp, Jaeger instruments and rear blind. This car does not suffer from the rust problems associated with this model, but it would certainly benefit from a re paint, Great value.
